When using films as evidence in your essay, students have a tendency to focus in on the dialogue. While movie dialogue plays an important part in establishing a filmmaker's interpretation, it is important to consider the visual evidence as well and to do so using the proper cinematic terms. While one should always be careful using wikipedia sources, this one does provide some good definition of film and cinematic techniques that might help you properly describe the way in which a scene was filmed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinematic_techniques

This is an example of the kind of essays I am looking for from my students. Notice that it begins with an original title that clues me in to my central topic; that it has a clear thesis or argument; that it includes evidentiary paragraphs that forward my central and supporting arguments; and that it sums it all up with a concluding paragraph.
